I had and loved a Ridgeback Flight back in the day - and then like a muppet, I went and sold it.
I have a hankering for a new hybrid, and I'm wondering what the go to is these days.
I want it to be quite light, fast and able to take guards/racks - I'm no longer in London, so I don't need to worry quite as much about pinchability. I.e. I'm a tart and fancy something nice. But defo flat bars, as opposed to going gravel.
Recommend what you've got!

Looks a hell of a good bike for the money
I was going to recommend Whyte, but they’ve massively reduced/changed their range. Shame, my last one was great.
I’ve now got a boardman urb8.9, simply for the belt drive. The gear range is limited however and it might be a bit spiny for your fast requirements. Rides nicely
Currently investigating the spec of a Canyon Commuter 6 for a friend.Nexus 8speed with belt drive.
Scratching my head a bit as asked to look at it as there was a concern it 'wouldn't work on hills' difficult to compare when I'm not yet supplied with the gering of the bike it might be replacing.
Yeah, I used to think a Whyte would be the obvious choice - but sadly they have culled the range. That Boardman looks nice (fast is a relative term). And a great tip on the Cube - flat bar road bike rather than hybrid is probably what I'm looking for.
I just got a Genesis broadway (£449 delivered) and popped some flat bars on it, basically a Genesis Cda/Cdf with Mtb gears.
I also have a Pinnicle Lithium 3 I got off here that I rate.
Broadway is a good suggestion, or a Croix de Fer 20 FB?
My wife bought a Cube SL in 2018 - it's been great so far
Bought one yet?
Carpe diem as they say in wigan.

@godzilla that Broadway looks good to me, except the tyres are skinnier than I'm used to, how much clearance for wider tyres is there?
