So i have a cheapy, generic grease gun (one of the ones that just about every bike related company under the Sun copies and stamps their name on. Ex. just about everything on this page - http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/se/en/s?q=grease+gun&cat=direct) but, while it's fine for popping grease on a bolt or whatever it's somewhat lacking when it comes to pushing grease into the grease ports on my suspension pivot bushings - can anyone recommend an (ideally) reasonably priced, more substantial alternative?

Thanks.

I've still got my original one, which I'm keeping.

Noted for interest. Related, what general use grease for use in said gun? general bike usage, nothing mega expensive or heavy duty I don't think, I currently use Weldite TF2 which does the job OK.

Dualco

I tried a Beta one after my original 1992 Dualco failed but it squirted more grease out the plunger than out the nozzle when up against a grease port - likely a duff one but went back to Dualco and hope to get another 25 years usage

+1 for Dualco, ideally with the extra long nozzle.

Great bit of kit.

Dualco full of Morris K323 Premium Blue. Bike branded stuff is a ripoff.

I'm still working my way through a tub of Silkolene Pro RG2 I bought about 20 years ago.

It's red and sparkly. And as an added bonus, it's quite good.

only isue i had with the beta was lack of a hanging hoop. so i soldered some on

got 3 of them now.

got rubber grease in one , some kluberlefer bearing grease(think boat trailer grease and you wont be far wrong) in another and JCB lithium grease in another - depends what im doing

Not had the issues mentioned above.

also have a hilka full size gun for doing the car prop shafts .... its utterly gash and not recomended . supposed to be able to bulk fill but when you purge the air out grease comes out the bottom.

My Dualco one must be coming up for 30 years old.

It and my Shimano cable cutters are most coveted tools. The cable cutters were £30 20 years ago, but, like the grease gun, just work and I have no doubt that they will continue to serve me well for many years to come.

Actually add my Hypercracker to that list as well.
