Basics I can do, but would like a quality reference manual just in case.
Park tools or sheldon brown website covers everything you will need with a few you tube videos to top it up.

I got hold of the Bartlett Bicycle manual, which was good (but no more so than the Park tool site info) and half of the content covered outdated technology. Which could be useful if you do a lot of maintenance for friends and family, but not as the owner of a modern mtb.
park big blue book is the website but in a from that's more workshop freindly than a white netbook.
Yeah I have the Psrk big blue book, much better then having to use my iPad with greasy hands.

I've always been a teach myself type person tho, never used a book (and inevitably f*ck up, but hopefully learn from my mistakes!)
