Topeak. From fatbike to forks and everything in between.

Topeak Smarthead came very highly recommended, it's a little expensive, and bulky, but it does the job very well. The "tune" option is pretty essential, I've had other gauges in the past that could take a reading but not measure changes as you made them so you had to continually reset.

Do they work well with presta valves?

I'm looking for one also.. Based purely on amazon reviews I'm leaning towards the topeak d2.. Seems a bit better than the shalwbe and another one i was looking at.. £18 almost twice the price but I'm on Presta valves now so need something reliable..

Interested in any other people's experiences..

Not the schwalbe one.
I've got one and I don't trust it.

and another for the Topeak. Treated myself with a CRC voucher a while back and I use it on the bike and car.

Topeak one is awesome.... but if you use tubeless be careful about getting sealant in it. Its a bit susceptible to that and AFAIK you really cant take it a apart and clean it.

I have a Topeak - not had it long though. Was initially unsure about the fact you don't wrap the valve with the gauge head but it seems to work.

Before that I had a SKS gauge but I fractured the case replacing the battery - very fiddly to do. Not recommended.

Oh - and the pressure gauge on my Lezyne floor pump underestimates by 25psi, which is a lot when you think you're putting 35psi in your tyres.

surely a finger test and experience can tell you 10psi isn't 35psi?

i had a topeak, for the limited amount of times i used it it was alright

Topeak d2 is what I had concluded. Just wondered how accurate it was as it's range is so wide. Still, the range would be handy if it's true, as it'll do fat bikes to air shocks.

Thanks

I have the BBB one. It's basically a tenner and works on my Fatty and CX.

Another Topeak user here, cracking little gauge. Use it on the car and bike with no issues, never had it gunk up with sealant fluid either unlike the Clarks one I had before. I've tested mine against the calibrated one at work and it was 1psi out, consistently. The key is getting a gauge that gives a consistent reading rather than out-and-out accuracy so that the same reading gives the same result.

I had a Topeak gauge but I suspect my son "borrowed" it because I haven't seen it for ages 🙁 it was good while I had it though.
