KCNC Flyride is decent and I think it's under £30. Bontrager do one called the pro lite or race lite that's also pretty good.

I got myself one of these: http://www.on-one.co.uk/i/q/STOON3D/on_one_hot_box_stem as wanted to try a shorter stem on the cheap to see if it worked, it's nicely finished and pretty light, and it hasn't broken yet!

if you look around on eBay and stuff you may be able to pick up a easton heaven for around £40 which is a great stem!

I like the Truvativ AKA, fairly cheap at CRC too.

I'm surprised nobody has recommended Thompson yet?

Thompson Elite X4... my top recommendation.

+1for Thomson but you'll struggle to find one under 30 worth having. Plenty people selling them on here if you can up your budget by about a fiver. We'll worth having.

I've picked up a couple of the on-one stems on eBay, about twenty quid each and really nice stems for the price.

A second hand thomson or race face turbine, which you should get for around £30 on here.

I'd recommend Sunline V1 stem as a bit of chunky CNC aluminium loveliness that come up quite regularly secondhand and are well within budget.

I've posted a wanted ad twice now but no offers as yet . The 2nd hand market seems to be slow at the moment .

Thomson make the nicest stems. Second hand on eBay for some bling.

What sort of bike? I'm using a £13 carboncycles stem on my Anthem and it's great.

Just looked at the carboncycles stem , are they strong ? At that price I could get two different lengths to try .

Gussett Staff is a good option at 60mm or 70mm.

Light, cheapish and has a nice finish.

Go 60mm I reckon, that's the longest stem I have on an MTB now.

I've got a carbon cycles stem, its light and have no issues with it. Not particularly bling though.

Easton Haven on my other bike is lovely. You won't get one for £30 though.

Race Face Turbine is equally nice

Easton Vice. Not too much. Good component, decent bolts as well. Comes in a high rise version [which I have], which is good if you are shortening and going wider on the bars.
