Yo.

Heading up to Manchester over the weekend and might take the bike and get out while the gf hangs with her mum.

I've been to Macc forest before which I mostly enjoyed. Anything else I should consider a shortish hop from Manc?

Where in Manchester will you be? Peak is pretty close (perhaps loop from Hayfield); Rammy to the north, Hebden about an hour away, Greno / Wharncliffe about the same to the east.

Droylesden.

I'd say about 3-4 hours depending on the brass monkeys. Maybe 2-3 is more realistic on me own in the wilds of the north.

In that case, I'd recommend a classic Peak loop (start at Hayfield, over to Jacobs ladder, various options in the hope valley depending on time and energy, ending via rushup edge / the roych / mt famine back to Hayfield).

Did this the weekend before last, with some extras back at the Hayfield end. Nice route, recommended.

I'd offer to show you round Rivington way but it's a bit of a schlep from where you're based.
