Roadie type with pockets and all - but stylish. Possibly both long and short sleeved. No naff garish colours or team strips please.

Twin Six from Always riding or wiggle. Mellow Johnny - expensive but can get reasonable copies from the far east dirt cheap.

Go to Prendas. Find a classic jersey. Enjoy.

Or, if you want something excellent quality, but without actually being Rapha, try Untouched World. I have one - excellent.

It's going to be used on road mostly (or racing) so it wants to be tight. I have a Smartwool one that I love (thanks Mrs Grips 🙂 ) but I only have the one, plus it's quite thick so will be too warm in summer.

I like the ground effect ones.

If you're small enough, the STW shop was selling off some small and extra-small jerseys for a fiver a go. I got one, seems good, nice fit, usual three pockets at back. Excellent deal for £5

depending on budget, I'd look at the Endura Humvee as a cheapish option. I've got a couple of the FS260 (road) jerseys for commuting on the cross bike and they're great. Humvee is a tad less fitted, subtle styling and Cordura shoulder panels for the inevitable tumbles and at £35, a good buy in my eyes.

Cyclestore are doing 50% off on Nalini short sleeve jerseys, according to the spam they sent me last week.

Not sure about style, but my roadie friends swear by their kit for comfort.

No, you'll find a lot of people on here waste money on "designer" cycling stuff.
Check out the Nike stuff in JEJames' sales.
Endura tops are nice n cool too.
eg. http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=32187

TwinSix has some nice designs but the material is quite basic. There are nicer ones on, if you know what I mean.

Saw some Untouched World stuff in Condor at the weekend. That looked nice stuff but maybe in Rapha territory price-wise.

There's only one jersey to be seen in this year, so exclusive you can't even buy one 😉

They're all naff, each and every one.
Team ones are dreadfull, as are ones like twin six...meaningless tripe, solo just as bad, and get the models YMCA or what.
Rapha is good and looks good as do any plain ones.

Any club jersey is fine.

Mellow Jonnys is a bit accountant/weekend warrior.

One exception in my book - Flandria.

I agree with Blackhound. Craft is really good quality and the service from alwaysriding is fantastic...and no I don't work for them but I do most of my shopping online.
