I fancy a BMX for messing around on with a new pump track just built nearby and perfecting the manual.
Budget is around £400, may possibly go slightly higher. All recommendations appreciated.
How about one of these. Can't say I know much about BMX bikes, but its 20% off and a nice colour.

That is also rather cool. Will definitely need a rear brake though (I’m guessing it’s missing in pics for aesthetics).
i got my son this :

really good .
The cult comes with a rear brake fitted (and a front brake in the box if you feel the need).
I'd have this.

Proper 4130 frame, decent parts, all fully sealed bearings etc. It's an actual decent bike not a cheap imitation.
Plus, you can pretend you're Van Homan
Benmoto, how tall are you? if you're 6' or over you need to look for one with a 21" top tube to give you enough room.
For £400 - £500 you should get a real nice bike for that.
Look on Custom riders site and if you live anywhere near Letchworth in Herts I'd recommend popping into their shop and trying a few out, they're a great shop and been doing BMX since the 80's
I’m 5’9 so would probably look at 20.5 from what I’ve read.

This is an interesting and timely thread. Some people found BMX didn’t work for them but I think it would still be a cool toy to mess around on.
Just got back from the pump track on the Orange Five - waste of time.
The Soul was okay but I’m keeping that for xc. I’m considering changing the old Orange Crush to a singlespeed setup and slamming the saddle for a more DJ feel. It’s currently running DMR Motos so should roll quite nicely.
I'd still go for a 21 inch tt, especially if you're coming from MTB. I've ridden a lot of BMX over the years but sold my last one about 18 months ago as it just wasn't getting used - it was more of a street bike like the WTP you mentioned at the start and I found it pretty short. For pump tracks and BMX tracks I'd be looking at an alloy 'race' bike rather than a street bike, and probably a cruiser at that.
