My old record bag is getting a bit weather beaten and I need a new work bag for riding to the station that will fit my laptop, a few other bits and occasionally some overnight stuff. I usually use a big record bag or a 30-35L rucksack but thinking that a rucksack that will hang off the pannier rack would be good. Anyone used anything good?

I had a Abus backpack/pannier. Was good as a pannier, but uncomfortable as a backpack.

Whatever you buy, try it out first.

No idea if it's any good, and it's expensive, but really like the look of these:

The Thule commuter pannier works pretty well for this as the pannier mounting hardware doesn't stick out when not in use.

It's more of a shoulder/courier bag than a twin-strap 'backpack' off the bike though.

Used one for commuting for a few years, never missed a beat. still got it in case I can start riding to work again in the future.
