On the 'recommend what you have' front, I've had a transfer external and it's been solid since ooh, march last year? Friend has an internal one thats a year older again and also fine.
Another option is the Lev. OH has had one since 2014. Had a warranty replacement in the first year because something was scoring the stanchion but it's remained pretty much untouched since.
had one brand x failure on arrival. have a couple of lev, one that has not had a great deal of use is marked, has been serviced, but isn't working all that well. not great for the amount you pay. have been given a new e13 warranty replacement by the distributors which is working very well in these dry conditions. winter looms but i'm putting a guard on that bike.
