Want to go to a 2 x 9 setup using my existing XT crank. I've only used and replaced with the cheese made XT chain rings so have no idea about other compatible ring.
Are XT still the best option or is there anything better and lighter I should be looking at such as Blackspire, Middleburn etc? I'm assuming PCD will be the same and I'll need shorter fixing bolts. Correct?
Thank you all knowing STW. 🙂
Edit: What's a good chainring size, 24/36?
Deore or SLX for me (try rose bikes), they may need a slight filing to make them fit but thats normal and fine.
Given up on expensive chainrings as they definitely don't last twice as long, though they definitely cost twice as much (or more)
Personally I'd just fit steel Deore rings, mainly because they lady forever and are also cheap.
I run 22/32 with a 11-34 cassette on my 140mm FS and will be running 22/32 with a 11-32 cassette on my 100mm 29er HT
I only really ever spin out on road descents and that doesn't matter on a MTB in all honesty, pedalling at 20mph on anything technical is beyond my skill level anyway
