As it says really. I was born and bred in Ayr but left 35+ years ago Back in the town for a few days and looking for routes to bike on or off road around 1-2 hours in duration ideally cycling from the doorstep in the centre of Ayr
Road wise, pennyglen loop out of Ayr, out past Doonfoot, Dunure, and onto the junction after electric brae, then left at mochrum Hill back into alloway via Culroy, or go up and over Carrick hills, then back in via doonfoot again.
Further afield, have a look at ayrshire alps website, some brilliant road riding out by Straiton.
Off road, river Ayr has some lovely sections up beyond cruive past annbank and stair, and the built stuff at cruive is really good. I'd need to send you some strava rides tho, it's not easy to describe.
I'm up for a spin if ye fancy company Gordi.
Cheers Nobeer I really appreciate the offer of company and may well take it up in the future. I'm going to be looking after my folks though so will just be taking my chances to get out at random times.
That Doonfoot route does seem pretty similar to one I did regularly all those years ago getting ready for a touring holiday round Yorkshire.
No worries, anytime fella.
Out through prestwick, Monkton, up kerrix Road to Symington, over 77 at hansel village, down back road signposted ladykirk, back down into Monkton, left at adamton house out to sandyford toll, then head for Tarbolton, then annbank, then Coylton, back in New cycle path to Holmston, or carry on up past crematorium to top of ailsa brae, corton, alloway hame.
Grand, and never far away from home.
