Hello
I'm not very knowledgable about this, but I've got a great full sus bike that's old but works great, but it's a bit tatty
Is it a stupid idea to get it re sprayed ?? It's a 5 yr old trek fuel , so it needs suspension arms taking apart I presume , before spraying it
Anyone out there ever done this ?? Is it expensive ?/// waste of money?
Anyone got rough idea of how much someone might charge?
Thanks, Pierre
Pierre,
i had an old orange patriot powdercoated a few months ago. for that you basically need to strip everything off the bike including taking the swingarm off and removing the headset, bottombracket and all bearings for the suspension. i was left with two bits of frame that were then powdercoated. after this i had to get the bottombracket re-faced and the headset re-inserted once the headtube had been reamed to remove the powdercoat inside.
i guess the same will need to be done for your re-spray.
are you doing it yourself or taking it to a paint shop, the latter could advise in what state they would like the frame delivered
