fancy building up a 26", 9 speed rigid frame this winter, already have a pair of Pace rigid fork (440mm a2c).I like the look of the Sanderson breath, but wondered if there are any other steel frames I should be looking at that would take such a short rigid fork.
Also which large (2.35-2.4)volume tyres for comfort ,xc use only so light is good, would be recommended.
Cheers
Jeff
Std Inbred would be at home on a set of 440mm's.
Pace 104, is beautifully finished.
Singular Hummingbird, (comes with forks though).
I'm running 2.35" (were 2.4") Racing Raplhs at 24-25psi on my 29er. They give a nice ride. Despite its quite tame looking tread pattern (compared to the Hans Dampf), they actually grip quite well. I can see mine staying on all winter.
Some one on here is flogging a Sanderson Breath (medium) for what its worth.
I'd also think about the option to run the frame with hub gears as an option for the future. I ride such a contraption through the winter and it's hard to beat, it gets covered in mud twice a day on the commute and barley ever needs cleaning, just the removal of excess mud when it becomes too heavy to move.
I have some of those forks on a steel voodoo wanga.
I don't know if this would a) suit or b) fit but it looks so nice I had to post

Frame only option available 😉
Thanks for all the feed back. The RR tyres look perfect for me.
Sorry should have said I would need a 16 to 18" frame as I am short in the body so tt length is important.
The pace looks stunning but is too large.
I am tempted by the Cove Hand Job but cannot find out what the head angle would be with 440mm forks.
Thanks again
Jeff
Kinesis Decade Versa.
Love mine 🙂
The Kinesis is a nice looking frame , the question is how would it handle with a set of 440mm rigid forks on the front.
Cheers
Jeff
