OH is looking for a smart watch with plenty of features for cycling, swimming, running, hiking etc. She quite fancies the Garmin Venu. I know nowt about such things but I'm sure people on here will know if she should be looking for something different.
Vivoactive 4s
I’m a girl and I wear the Garmin Fenix 5S in black.
In all honesty, what she considers ‘girly’ could be very different to what I consider as a women I’m happy to wear (my sole consideration in that respect was the dial size on woman sized wrists). Rest was about the non gender specific tech (though on smaller screens you normally don’t get mapping).
I had a quick look at a Venu in John Lewis a few weeks back - it did look quite nice, the screen is really good.
I hadn’t really checked out the features as I was in the market for something else, it it was good looking
For anything Garmin DC Rainmaker is your friend:

My wife has a vivoactive 4s and it's really nice and does lots of cool stuff, Inc Garmin pay if you have a Santander account.
Yeah, girly was maybe a bit over the top. She just wants something that isn't overly masculine.
@winston cheers for that link! Very informative and it seems to compare well to the other devices in the comparison table.
Comparing the Venu and the Vivoactive 4s, they both seem to have the same features, just a different case design/size. Or am I missing something?
@ahsat is the Fenix a current product? Can't seem to find it on their website. I have found a few places that have it in stock and it is probably out of her price range tbh.
@jordan - they have now been replaced by the Fenix 6. They do a lot of their higher end ranges in an S model which is a smaller face, and you can change the band which might help personalise it (mine actually was blue but a had a warranty replacement in the black and it doesn’t bother me now).
I had a brief look at DCRs review of the Venu posted above and it looks good. It’s slimmer than my Fenix which is now bad thing tbh. I use it for multisport functions but probably could get away without all the extras. If I was in the market again that Venu looks worth a look.

The venu has a more 'smar****ch' screen compared to the V4 and correspondingly lower battery life. That's it.
Depending on her sports options, lower battery life might be worth considering as a limitation. I get 10 hours of GPS on mine so typically can do a weekend of outdoor activities.
Thanks folks! All good information to know.
OH got a vivoactive 4s for christmas and she loves it. Im a vivoactive 3 wearer (thats 2 years old now) and can attest to the quality and features of the watches. Only difference between the 4s and the Venu is the Venu has an OLED screen which gives you much prettier colours, animations and all round better user interface. I imagine the battery life will not be handle to it in the long run though so i'd wait for the next gen watches with OLED screens.
I'll talk with her about it and see if she wants a prettier screen or better battery life. Cheers!
