So, building up an On One 29er as a winter bike so popped to my LBS to get a front mech today, they had an Alivio one that would fit so thought OK, but fitted it and there's naff-all clearance between my tyre and the mech, had a bit of problem getting the wheel in, it's only a 2in Beaver, I'd struggle to get anything bigger in there and On One say they reckon you can fit a 2.4 but recommend 2.0 to 2.3, when the weather gets a bit better I'd like to fit something with more volume .... and I need gears.

So, anyone recommend something they've fitted with good clearance?

One of These type, a lot more clearance than the low band type,

Thanks khani, there's a lot of mechanism and bits sticking out the back of the one I've got so that looks better.

No worries 😀 if its a top pull you can saw off half the cable pull arm (the bit for bottom pull use) for even more clearance, Like this
you won't be able to use it for a bottom pull frame again though,
