I am thinking into Thornhill, along the old railway, down the back of ladybower to the end, back along, up the steep fire rd to woller knoll.
Down to hope cross, Roman rd, cake

sounds alright that.
also sounds like you're after something relatively tame, and I can't think of any other similar options out of hope.

maybe hope to brough then bradwell, up under the cement works and into castleton, old road up mam tor, then to hollins cross for the view, then down the bridleway to castleton again before a gentle spin to hope.

It's a bit more roady but that might be good for newbies

Dont know about the route, but 3hrs for newbies sounds like a long time.

that concessionary one that dog legs down from hollins cross and comes down past the outdoors centre. 3 hours is fine I reckon, at the right pace and with rest stops.

how about old road up Mam Tor then back down Cave Dale or Pindale and then out to Hathersage and back?
They can walk the steeper bits and it should only take 2hrs max including a tea stop.

you can easily walk down Pindale (if there's no land rovers coming up it)
