With the advent of technology and the ever increasing number of gadgets that the family seem to have collected it has dawned on me that investing in a decent rechargeable battery setup might help save money down the line.
Can anyone recommend a decent setup that will charge all sizes of batteries ranging from AAA to DD and which batteries are best to get.
I had thought good old Eveready or Duracell but it seems the choice is endless.
I've used a bunch of different makes but the Energizer ones seem to keep going the longest for me. 7day shop used to be the cheapest and have their own brand as well which I've used but nowadays I tend just to get the Energizers as I know they work
edit: I have a 7day shop charger as well which works ok but it feels like the batteries get hotter than I'm comfortable with. I'd probably get and Energizer charger as well next time if this one dies
For batteries, I think Vapextech are good (and pretty cheap). I usually use their "Instant" low self-discharge batteries. http://vapextech.co.uk/
For a charger, the Technoline BL700 is very good. http://www.batterylogic.co.uk/technoline/technoline-BL700.asp
Though it only charges AA / AAA.
Depends on what you need bigger batteries for - you could use AA batteries with an adapter to make them C or D size. They would be lower capacity than proper C/D cells, but are much cheaper.
As above, 7-day shop branded. The 2900mAh AA's seem ok. Big charger that takes all the sizes is ok. I never charge overnight or when we're not in though. Next time I order I'm going to get one of the battery organisers also. Kids toys just seem to eat batteries.
According to Which magazine Maplin do the best value rechargeables... I seem to remember anyway.
