Hi,

I picked up a second hand pair of RCT3 SIDs last week and seem to have an issue with the rebound adjuster.

I turned it clockwise, it moved smoothly with obvious clicks (I think I counted 14) before it stopped. I then turned it back the other way but no clicks and it just spins freely, without ever coming to a stop.

I pulled the red tubular adjuster out (about 3" long), it all looks clean. The end of the adjuster has an internal 2.5mm allen socket, I can put an allen key in there and there and there is grip, its not rounded. Pop it back on it locates nicely back in place but is still the same.

Nothing was forced.

Any ideas?!

Thanks.

Not sure what is going on in your case, but SRAM site does have loads of good info. I used it when the rebound on my Pikes wouldn't turn in either direction. Got it sorted with the drawings and videos.

They’re easy enough to service and take apart. As above the sram site has guides.

Thanks for the replies.

I think that the red tube part is meant to have a retained allen key but when I pull it out the allen key part is staying in the fork leaving an allen socket on the end of the red bit, and I cant get any needle noses pliers down the end of the fork to pull it out.

Not sure how easy it will be to take apart as I dont think I'll be able to get a bigger allen key in the socket needed with the small allen key bit stuck in there?!

Ah yeah there’s an Allen key in the adjuster for sure (I have a pair) and if it’s not, you’ll need to pull it out.

Needle nose mole grips FTW.

I managed to get a 5mm Allen key on the hollow bolt, then with bolt removed enough of the 2.5mm Allen key shaft was exposed to get some pliers on and pull it out. Now whacked it back into the red knob part, refitted and all working again.
