Bugger.

In a moment of crass stupidity, I've rounded off the 2.5mm rebound adjuster on my Rebas.
Now stuck on maximum damping, which feels awful.

A new damper rod assembly is £50.00, which seems a bit steep.

Anybody got a bodge that will enable me to adjust the rebound without having to spend any cash and preferably without having to take the bloody things apart?

use a long 2.5 allen key pushed right in, this should free it up with a bit of penetrating oil.
If this doesn't work try taking it ou the fork and a little heat on the rod and gentle (ish) force.

If this doesn't work I can supply you with a 2012 Dual flow Rebound assm. for £65 which will get the forks working really nicely. 😀

It's not seized, I've rounded off the 2.5mm allen key recess. 🙁

So even using a long 2.5 allen key it won't turn? even pushed fully in as the Rockshox adjuster doesn't always reach fully to the end of the adjuster grub rod allen cutout.
If it still spins, sorry it's knackered and you need a new one, the issue is that the unit is pressed shut so you can't get in at the bits.
Feel free to mail me regarding any parts/advice you need 😀

Cheers LoCo, I'll try a longer one and see if that helps.

That would be the last ditch option before replacement Al but may work I guess, pain to get your lowers off for service though as you'd have to wrench the rebound adjuster out and may damage the adjuster screw in the process.

It's a possibility al.
I've thought of trying to glue the 2.5 mill allen key in place then trying, somehow to get the bloody thing off again.

What I need is a temporary glue - sticks wonderfully for about an hour then lets go again 😀

Before gluing, but after trying a longer hexagon allen key, I think I'd try gently knocking a slightly larger Torx type allen key on to the rounded off hole.

Hopefully you'll get enough purchase to set it, but it won't cause later problems.
