I am in the process of changing the damper in my reba forks to a crown lockout and removing the broken poplock. The damper I have is the Rct3. How do I check the oil volume is correct whilst it is stripped out?
I hear also you can measure it from the top and the height should coinside to where the o rings sits on the new damper?
I have googled and found conflicting information on the matter so any advice will be appreciated
How do I check the oil volume is correct whilst it is stripped out
Pour it out into a measuring jug to check the volume?
Either way, if you've got the damper out you'd be as well replacing the oil anyway so the current volume doesn't matter.
From memory when I had Reba's, you filled it with oil until it reached a certain height from the top of the stanchion which you would use a tape measure to check
All the service manuals are on the SRAM site with foolproof instructions and all the relevant oil types and volumes
OK thanks I will have a look at the sram Web site
All back together and works a treat using the info on the sram site 77mm from the top is the oil height I used
Just to update - the Rct3 damper now fitted in my reba rl forks has transformed them. They are now buttery smooth in the open position on small bumps (which was always a problem before) and the middle "pedal setting" seems just firm enough when you need to hussle the bike along
An hour fettling wellspent for once !
