Hi all,

Riding the other day, and noticed I kept bottoming out my forks. Was only out with my daughter, so not sure exactly when it happened, as wasn't really riding hard.

Anyway, I put the lockout on, which worked, and carried on riding.

When I got home, I put the air back in, and used the guide on the leg as a starting point, going for 100psi. The fork was rock solid then Might as well have been locked out!

To get it moving adequately, I've dropped the pressure down to about 60psi, but that's really low.

The feel quite springy now, although I haven't mucked about with the rebound.

These are the solo air model. I'm wondering if it's some problem with the +ive and -ve chambers?

Anyone had an issue like this?

Rock Shox traditionally always used to overestimate pressures. Not sure if they've got better more recently though.

I actually thought RS had sorted out the pressures. My 2011 Rebas needed to be way lower than the recommended. My 2013 Lyriks and 2014 Sektors are pretty much bang on the recommendations.

The guide is just a rough guide. Use sag measurement to indicate whether you need to put more or less pressure in. Depending on personal preference and riding type, sag should be some where between 20% to 30% sag.

Also I find RS forks can take a couple of rides to bed in a loosen the seals a little. So check your set up again after a few rides.

I'm about 10-20 psi lower than the 'recommended' for my kitted weight. 60 does sound very low unless you're a weenie, though.

My X-Fusions are the same, I run far less than the 'recommended' pressure. I'm not sure where these recommendations come from but the best thing to do is to experiment and go with what works for you.

I had a similar problem with a set of 2013 Rebas which had to go back on warranty recently. They never felt right out of the box, I needed to run them at 60psi due to terrible stiction and after 6 months of putting up with it they went back and it turned out to be a problem with the lowers.

Now they're back I'm running them at 85psi (80kg with Camelbak and riding gear on).

I had similar symptoms with my dual air revs. I had them down at like 35 psi just to move. was crazy.

Anyway, I think a seal must have gone internally, as an air-side service fixed it. Did the service at home, took an hour or so. Didn't touch the compression side other than the lowers.

If they are solo air ( I see yours are) a seal can go and pass air into the negative chamber. A service sorted mine.
