Never ridden one properly, but I had a little ride on my mates new stumpy last night, I also made the same comment about another mates 5 spot. The rear wheel travel feels a lot more than the travel on the forks. Now I have only ridden hardtails so this may be why. Does anybody else feel this?

no never felt this I suspect it is just that you are not used to feeling something squishy at your rear.

When i have been doing mainly road miles and get back on a mtb I always think i have a puncture due to the front suspension

You can alter the suspension travel also to make it harder or softer depending on what ya want. Ideally the bike should be fairly balanced with no major extremes either end. Ya just gotta spend a wee bit time tweaking it till it feels right. Get it right and full sus is ace.

Wors - it will just be the effect of not being used to it. I mainly ride a hardtail but when switching to my fullsus it often feels weird at the start, you soon don't notice it.

My first time on a full suss felt like that, I spent weeks juggling pressures to get it to feel right.

Your riding style does adapt to accomodate in time.
