Hi
I have a new wheelset on a Superstar components V6 hubs. First time fitting them.
Aving an issue with the rear wheel. Everything ws working fine with the previous wheelset - hunts - and still work fine when i refit them so it's something to do with the Superstar wheels.
The wheel rotates freely as expected with the axle done up lightly finger tight.
If I apply any more torque there is a lot of resistance. I cam turn the wheel by hand but it is very tight.
Any ideas?
Sounds like the bearings are getting overloaded, maybe they aren’t seated correctly.
Warranty job I guess in case you mess them up.
I’d probably take off the free hub and have a nose around anyway in case it’s something simple.
Could be any number of things.
Have you tried removing the brake caliper to rule out pad/rotor alignment?
Is there a space between the cassette lockring and the drive-side dropout?
There’s possibly a shim missing somewhere, maybe between the freehub and the hub bearing, or between the end cap and the outer hub bearing?
I'll test fit them again and check what's been suggested.
And get in touch with superstar Monday if there's no solution.
Thanks again.
Has this with a Novatec cxd wheelset I bought off eBay.In my case it was a quick fix,the DS wheel bearing hadn’t been fully seated and a quick turn of a bearing press sorted it.The stiffness was caused by the freehub touching the bearing.
Removed caliper and checked for rub on the cassette.
I'll get in touch with superstar tomorrow. Don't want to go prodding when it may be a warranty issue.
