Looking to remove the bearings from my fat bike rear wheel. Can anyone recommend a cheap tool for the job? If you know the size One of these would do the job

The. Just tap it out from the other side with an old screwdriver or a drift

Hammer & screwdriver

A punch can make life a bit easier rather than a screwdriver S&R Pin Punch Set/Drift Punch Set/Made in Germany/Heavy-Duty Chrome-Vanadium Steel. Set of 6: 3 mm/4 mm/5 mm/6 mm/8 mm/10 mm https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07DVK2QVB/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_ObAGFb0MN2T78

You keeping the bearing?
Bit of broom handle ( depending on size), hammer, two wood blocks as a support. Tap tap, job most likely done.

johnnymarone Great idea, will try that. I was going to keep it, but I'll probably replace it after I get it out.

Thanks everyone for your response. Looks like the best thing is to get the hammer out.

Why would you go to the trouble of removing bearings just to put them back?

I got something similar to this..  Bearing Puller for a mates hub that needed a blind bearing puller.  The one I got was just £11 but it's now unavailable, this is the closest thing I could find.  Expanding collet grips the bearing and you wind down against the sleeve and it's pulls the bearing out, nice and gentle, very simple, worked perfectly. Have added it to the toolbox for future awkward bearings.

Heating the hub makes a huge difference to how easy it is. tie a rag around it and pour boiling water over it. Freeze new bearings before fitting them

I've used Wheels Manufacturing bearing extractors with great success before. In fact used one this morning for a 15mm ID.
If your bearing is 10mm ID then this one will do it

Winston Freehub body is loose, unfortunately I can only tighten it through the none drive side.

Took a hammer and a piece dowel to it and it’s now out. Bearings seem fine. Will probably put some new ones in as it’s out now.

@ winston
Imagine a scenario where you suspect a dodgy, shitted up bearing, remove said bearing, pop the seals off, give it a clean, pack with fresh grease only to find it wasnt as bad as you imagined. Now, imagine that bearing is some pain in the arse , non standard, cycle specific size which you can only get mail order . You want to go for a spin tomorrow though.
Pop the bearing back in, go for your spin, wait for new bearing to arrive, replace.
Been there, done it.

This seems unlikely. What hub is it?

Provided the freehub is out, place some timber over the axel on the other side and tap out. You'll need the hub supported on the tapped out side - more wood.

Sciencerofficer No idea what brand the rear hub is, came with the original bike (Genesis Caribou green one). Yep, freehub body was loose. Tightened and reinstalled everything.

Will see how long it lasts. Really need to replace the wheel with better hub and rim. Probably a Hope Fatsno and a DT Swiss rim.
