Not wanting a muddy bum all day but still wanting to hit the trails without somthing too restrictive what are you guys running ?
I’m sorted at the front end but want somthing for the rear as well .
I have a giant trance 29 if it helps .

The gigantic Mudhugger is as effective as it’s hideous. It’s made commuting on and off-road on my Levo much nicer in all weathers. It looks awful. I get way filthier on my hardtail but I refuse to ruin its looks!
Mudhugger if you want it to work and to hell with aesthetics.

I had to apologise to the office cleaners the other day after I left muddy patches on the floor when I took my bag off - I did offer to clean up myself if they lent me the mop etc. Mudhugger on, no more instances 😂 if anyone arrives here hoping for 700c wheel recommendations, I've just fitted some SKS Speedrockers and am very impressed with them too.

Those really long rear mudguards are just so fugly! Goretex trousers shorts. Or Madison (I have these (older model) in longs and shorts and like them.

If you’re commuting seated, you could use one of those flat plastic “Ass Saver” ones that folds and clips under the seat rails” ones?

Such vanity ! I’ve got a short mudguard on the back of my new Orbea Rise to protect the rear shock , I’ve now added a seatpost mounted Crudguard as well , who cares what it looks like , not me ! 3 of us on the Quantocks Thursday I was the only one who didn’t end up looking like he’d shat himself ! 👍👍👍👍👍

Mudhugger. I can’t be bothered with all the mess and how ruined clothes get. It also means we get extra rides in when we don’t have time to clean everything. More rides always trumps appearances for us!
Having been a user of mughuggers for years on my mtb's they have a few annoying points.
If left on all winter tend to rub paintwork
Are a pain to fit so tend to not remove
Don't extend below seat stays, so linkage still gets full of mud etc unless additional protection installed.
My local bike shop owner has recently told me a new mudguard called SKS Mudrocker, had a look yesterday and was so impressed have brought one to try out.
Sits on rubber so hopefully kinder to paintwork, also comes with heletape to help as well
Comes with velcro straps, easy to install and remove
Has a lower extender to protect linkage
Has rear extended if required.
Fitted yesterday and very impressed, will be trying out tomorrow.
Im opting for the diy approach. 1.5 or 2mm Polypropylene zip tied into place. Its an ebike and full mudguards seem a bit overpriced to me.

I tried the SKS mudrocker as I wondered if it was any better for protecting my lower bearings. It wasn’t as good as the mudhugger and made an awful racket on bumpy downhills and drops, so the mudhugger went back on!

I've fitted my Mudhugger over the top of an RRP enduro guard which stays on year round to protect the dropper post

Can anyone give informed comment on a suitable rear mudguard for a Trek Rail? I see loads of love? for the Mudhugger but also some for the Zefal Deflector and mention of the Mudrocker.

First ride with the Mudrocker fitted, very pleased with it, conditions very wet and muddy, guard handled it as well as a mughugger, it was if anything quieter, no noise along trail, decents, drops or jumps, straps didn't move, so it a thumbs up from me, I'll be getting another one for the leg bike
Fit a few layers of duct tape or similar under a mudhugger or your paint will suffer. They are very good though.
