I've been trying to tune my road bike a bit over the weekend and found it wasn't cleanly getting into the biggest cog on the back. I tweaked the limit screw a bit and now it's fine but I've found out that it's jumping past the next cog so I effectively have a 9-speed setup.

The mech, chain, shifter and cassette are all new (latest shimano 105) and no amount of messing seems to fix the problem. Anyone have any ideas?

Hanger fine. Hits every other gear fine, just skips the one next to the biggest

Change the cable outer where it curves round to the derailleur, you'll be amazed at the deterioration in performance you've come to accept as normal.
