I have an oldish 9sp XT rear mech with a LX/deore 9sp shifter. The mech looks bent and keeps jumping gears and I think it needs to go.
The question is, do only Shimano mechs work with shinamo shifters, or can you run a shimiano shifter with a Sram mech?
You can't mix them, different cable pull. I'm sure someone will have bodged it to work though 🙂
The pull ratio is different mate so you have to match up the shifters with the mech unless you want to try the 10 speed shimano mech with sram shifter conversion that some people have tried.
no, going 10sp is a change of shifter, hub, mech, chain, chainring, and overdraft and probably therefore wife.
Will look for a new shimano mech, unless one comes up in classifieds in the next few days. CRC have a sale on I see..^^ as always.
