Some advice would be most welcome

I know (I think) that a road rear mech wont work with MTB shifters ... but will an mtb rear mech work with road shifters ... ie .. is it the shifters that determine the how far the mech moves
... and if that's the case ... will a 9 or 11 speed rear mech work with 10 speed road shifters?

thanks hopefully!!

Lots more information needed. Different ranges, different years often have different pull ratios. Model numbers please...

General rule of thumb for Shimano is 11sp road only works with 11sp road,10sp mtb only works with 10sp mtb,(think, but not sure,11sp mtb only works with 11sp mtb) everything else seems to play well together as long as the shifter matches the cassette for number of gears.

Thanks all

That pretty much answers my question ... all parts would be shimano ... don't want to venture into the campag world.

@cynic-al, perhaps coatsey read something I didn't, but where in either the title or the OP was Shimano mentioned?? 😉
