Evening, bought a short cage type 2 x9 10 speed rear mech. Running an 11-36 on the rear 34t on the front. Now all writing I have seen on the mech say its compatible with a 36t ring. Although when I installed it it wouldnt go up to the 36t at the back. The cage was almost parallel to the ground. Is this because I measured the chain wrong? Measured using front ring round big ring at back not through mech.
Any advice?

Screwed the chain putting links back in, bent the plate on the other side! Grrrrr
