Hey guys,
Talk to me about rear lights. Currently have a cateye 5 led jobber but looking for another light to run with it on constant while another is flashing. Just thinking about how visible I was last weekend riding through the new forest after I ran out of light with only my cateye blinking away. Adding another light to the rear wouldnt be a bad idea... Was looking at the Exposure Flare - anyone got any experience of these or any recommendations of powerful rear lights?
Cheers
One of these, lights up amber at the side too for added visibility.

Really like my Bontrager Flare 3. Good sidespill, very bright and a good range of chunky mounting brackets.
Sub £20, Smart 2 x 1/2 watt light. Battery power
Sub £30, Knog Bloomer rechargable.
Sub £40 would be the flare.
Would be a Bloomer for me at around £23 which is rechargable.
I asked the question recently too. I've gone from a Cateye to a Smart Lunar 2. It's really bright which is key. Other suggestions included Moon or something
Fibre flare. Friends who have over taken me in their cars have commented how good it is.

+1 for the fibre flare, it's not a retina-burning (annoying) light but is very visible due to to it's size.
This winter I've been Useing a fibre flare and a light and montion vis 180
And can't fault either of then the l&m is very bright
The On-One is superb. An absolute bargain.
If it's bright you're after, then Moon Shield 60. On paper, it has similar output to the Exposure Flare and the convenience of USB recharging. I got mine for under £30.
mate has a fibre flare and i'm really impressed by it. as mentioned above, very visible from a distance but not not dazzling up close. i can ride behind him while off-road at night without any trouble, but it was visible 3-400 yards away on the road, and i thought he was a motorbike or car with one tail light out or something.
Got one of the on-one booster lights. It's bright, but not surprisingly it's very poor quality in comparison with my smart 2

imho...
1 light on the bike, 1 light on you, both not flashing. the difference in the movments is very eye catching.
don't forget your hi-viz/reflective ankles strap/s - the upndown motion is eye catching and obviously bike-based.
have a flashy rear red light if you must, but there are better ways to get yourself seen.
imho of course...
FYI Smart's are half price at Tredz. IMO, very bright, and can be seen from a good distance...

EDIT: I lied, they're 42% off.
