You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
I've pulled the Scandal frame (V1) out of the attic midden and it's getting built up again from whatever bits are lying around unused.
I have a vague memory that the rear disk size was limited.
All my wheels have 160mm on them, but I have a vague memory of 140mm being the size.
Calliper is BB7. (Has to be cable brake because I'm using dropbars).
Can anyone confirm?
(I can rob the Spyres of another bike if necessary, but I'd rather not)
I had a black anno v1 horizontal dropout Scandal (not Scandium one though). 140mm disc was definitely NOT the limit. Not sure if I used 160 or 180… I'll look for a photo.
Pretty sure I've got 160mm on mine but it's right at the back of the shed these days.
Always used 160mm on mine, still do now.

Thanks everyone.
Found some old pics.
Had a 160mm on it, so it must work.
I have memories of there being some faff involved with BB7s and it's the one bike I didn't do a build sheet on because it was supposed to be temporary. You know, cheap On-One frame, can't be much good, but it'll do for this experiment, and it's still here over 10 years later on its 4th incarnation. (And it is good 🙂 )
Fitted BB7 and 160mm disk.
I remember now! The faff is that the BB7 calliper lever is restricted in movement by the seatstay.
In the pic you can see it's pushed right forward to get the maximum movement possible from the lever, and it cannot move rearward without compromise.
This means the chain has to be cut small to allow the disk to be this far forward.

Spyres have the lever centred over the calliper so they have more clearance, and once I find a cheap set I'll replace the BB7.
bigger rotor might sort that out - unless it fouls the stays
