Have recently changed jockey wheels, chain and front inner chainring
Rear cassette looks unworn and is relatively new
When really doing heavy pedalling uphill its slips a gear then returns to the gear it was in
I am planning on changing middle chainring and maybe the cable as well as I figure maybe the cable has stretched and the middle ring looks worn though not as bad as the inner one did
Is this the right way to go?
Also, is there any way of makinh sure that the jockey wheel clears the largest of the rear cogs if it is slightly fouling them? I have adjusted the limit screw to its furthest but it hasnt worked - if i pull the derailleur off the cassette it clears it (obviously) - is there a way of doing this properly? I wondered about shortening the chain maybe
Its a Shimano XT derailleur
The cassette has a larger granny gear than standard

New chain on old cassette and rings is quite likely to cause the symptoms you've got.Probably not a bad idea to change the cables too, especially if they're getting on a bit.To move the mech away from the cassette, you'll need to tighten the B-tension screw,it's the one that sits above the limit screws.

If it is actually changing gear and not just slipping could it be some flex/movement at the back, only if you have rear suspension but maybe worn bushings?
Would certainly adjust the b-screw first though. Getting that clearance right made a massive difference to my shifting (removing the huge gap left by the shop).

Forgot to mention-if you've adjusted your limit screw to it's furthest then you'd better put it back before you get a chain in your spokes:)

Sorry - mix up in terminology - it is the b-limit screw that I have adjusted to the maximum but it still doesnt quite clear the cog from the jockey wheel

should mention that the b-limit problem has been there for ages but the gear slip problem is recent - since changing the inner ring chain and jockey wheels
the b-limit problem only affects the granny gear cog so am sure thats not the cause of the slipping as it currently happens mid-range and mid front cog only
