I've done nothing to it, the last owner screwed up a few bits and the rear wheel is shot.
So why is it now the bike I prefer to use? I dragged out the Trigger to re-assemble it for a ride tomorrow and all I could think was that the frame weighed so much more than the Bay Boy. And when I had a quick pootle the noise from the Dampfs and the bobbing up and down seemed more annoying than ever.
I know it will be different tomorrow in the mud on a hill but the amount of pleasure I'm getting from an ebay cheapy seems far too high for the price I paid.
Worse still I think this means my 4 month old Whyte Shoreditch no longer has a place in the N+1 equation.
I'm struggling with mine as well. I love it. I love it to the point that I can't see the need for the X9 geary bits I've accrued for spring next year when I was going to put 1x9 on it 😕 I even bought a nice (small) cromo Tzar frame to hang the bits on but I can't bring myself to pull the SS ally frame one apart for parts, it's just so much fun to ride.
edit- s SS Sunn Tzar in filthy dirty fun shocker, yesterday-
1x8 was simple but SS is brilliant. There I said it.
Take it to the Alps, or the Sierra Nevada for a bit. Or a nice pootle to the top of Ventoux.
Alternatively enter the Thetford Winter Series, and watch people go past you for a few hours.
Horses for courses, innit blud? Take a 160 gnarpoon to the shops or a road bike down Repack.
Bring it out to Whistler Bike Park next year. After 5 minutes I'll lend you the hammer for you to beat the shit out or it.
😀 . Maybe I'll keep the Trigger then. The Shoreditch is on shakey ground though.
