What’s the best thing to wrap around them?
I can get that stuff you wrap around tennis bat handles in my lunch or maybe some handlebar grip tape.
Is there anything proper that I should use for maximum silence?

Depending on cable routing, but my pinnacle arkose had a big gap at the bottom of the BB/downtube join where the cables came out. You can pop some small zip-ties round the cables but don't chip the tails off. Stops the cables from rattling.

Expect the stuff linked above works better though.

I've heard that is effective too but never got round to doing it as would have to remove the press fit BB, so am waiting till it needs replacing. That's on a carbon road bike which doest get used much now since a gravel bike came into my life, so the BB won't need changing for a while! I don't notice the rattle on any other bike so assume something was done at the factory on those, or the routing on those is just "better"...

Might try that Lifeline stuff though, now I've followed the link!

Some bikes come with the foam already fitted. Some others provide it with the bikes and expect the shop to fit them (usually in the case that brakes aren't complete due to L/R country differences).

Tried some homemade efforts with tape, shrink wrap etc but nothing satisfying, stuck some of the lifeline in with some shrink wrap either end to keep it neat. All good, would recommend

Can you retrofit the foam without having to rerun the cables?

I love the bike industry. They'll create the most annoying, time wasting way to put cables and hoses onto your bike and then they'll sell you a solution to the problems it creates.

And that solution, as always, is something that's been available to buy for years but with a brand name slapped on it.

Keep up the good work everyone.

EDIT: Also, I've always wanted to know if anyone is daft enough to put expanding foam into a carbon frame. Is the expansion enough to burst the frame open?

I'm assuming with that stuff from Wiggle the small size is gear and the big for brakes?
