Just stuck a 2.5 WTB Verdict Wet on the front with non boost Pikes. I also use a RR Enduro Guard and the whole thing is a bit tight in the mud clearance stakes. Is there any bodge i can do to the Enduro Guard to make it give me a bit more room? I was thinking of putting a slot in it so i could pull it up either side of the fork brace! Anyone done this? Any better ideas?
I had clearance issues when I fitted a 2.6MM.
Switched to the crudguard XL for that bike as you can run it higher up the fork.
Well you could do, but the gap to the brace would be more or less the same. A 2.5 is a big tyre for non-boost pikes. Boost ones have significantly more clearance.
Probably best to just run it as it is and if you clog up, put a slightly smaller tyre on.
Quick update - being as impatient as i am, ive just modded it by cutting out a slot and sliding it up alongside the bridge rather than under it (cue RHCP song). As it raises the whole guard then it has bought me about 5mm more clearance. So its better if not perfect.
Re the big tyre and the non boost pike thing - yeah if this doesn't make it more tolerable i may have to downsize the tyre, which is a shame as its magnificent in the mud 🙁
Having done that do you have clearance from the crown at full compression?
oh yes. its not above the fork brace, just next to it
But the brace rises above the crown under full compression?
Crud fender XL works well as it is designed for this and the flap under crown is designed to be moved by the crown.
See "deformable nose":

Sorry yes, under full compression im expecting both the downtube and crown to touch the guard slightly (not that this is likelylikely) and in this instance the guard will just flex. The guard is only about 5mm higher than it was previously. The guard is only about 1mm of thin flexy plastic. Its basically a dodge to work exactly like the Crud fender you mention.
