1. TdF - easily the most exciting, romantic, colourful. I even come to love the sponsors. Skoda anyone?
2. Giro - first Biggie of the year. Italy is beautiful and very photogenic. Not quite as romantic as the TdF, but almost as nice to watch
3. Vuelta - summer is now pretty much over. Northern leaves are starting to turn, and Spain is kind of beige and dry-looking anyway. Still like it, but it just doesn’t have the same attraction as the first two tours.
Different category, I know, but I tend to like Paris-Roubaix more than the Vuelta.
How would you rank the big races?
1. Tour de Yorkshire - the best food and beer in the world, excellent tea.
2. Tour of Britain - often includes Yorkshire, but also other nice places
3. Ride London - not that far from Yorkshire really.
4. Fred Whitton Challenge - the hardest of them all, but few pro teams take part.
I don't really hold with all these fancy foreign so-called Grand Tours, but I like the very wide roads of the Tour of California, so I'd rate that above the Giro, Vuelta etc which need their infrastructure upgrading.
