Morning all,

The lever clamp bolts for a Shimano M8100 are M5 x 18.  Does anyone know if you could get away with using an M5 x 15 or if an M5 x 20 would be too long?

Also what length is the pad retention bolt for an M8100 and M8120 caliper please?

(Edit function not working...)

I've got both of these in the workshop, I'll be out there shortly, I'll check and report back if no-one beats me to it.

M8100 brake lever clamp bolt. I just put a M5 x 25 in mine. It's threaded right through so depending where your gear shifter sits there's plenty of space for a longer bolt. I'd definitely go longer rather than shorter.

M8120 caliper pad retention screw is 24.5mm to the groove for the clip, 27.75 to the end. You could get away with shorter, maybe by up to 2-3mm -there's quite a bit of clearance behind the clip on my M8120 calipers.

Great stuff, thanks guys for enabling my pointless upgrades!

With those measurements in mind, would you say that 25.6mm or 28.2mm would be better?

For reference its the bottom two,

I'd go 28.2 just to be sure it fits. That's only .5mm longer than standard and if the grooves are in a different place relative to the end compared to the shimano ones it could be a bit touch and go on the shorter ones.
