Apologies for the random roadie question, but I've been asked the above by a friend's wife who wants to surprise him with a new cycle carrier...although from what I can remember of my friend's Nanolight, it has a big downtube which could possibly be too much for the clamp.

The safe option is a 561, but before resorting to that faff, has anyone achieved a successful pairing of Nanolight / 591?

I could not recommend clamping a very light carbon bike by the downturn.

Thanks Brant, I'll tell her to err on the side of caution with this one

Don't know about the 591, but I have carried a Cannondale Jekyll in a 598. The Jekyll has a monster downtube.

80mm diameter or 80x100 for oval tubes is the spec: https://www.thule.com/en-gb/gb/bike-rack/roof-bike-racks/thule-proride-_-598001

Used to have a Nanolight in a fork mounted rack, 561?

Anyway, not sure if it’s the design of the fork or me being an idiot, but the barrel on the Thule crushed the lawyer lips...nothing major but might be a disappointment if he’s particularly precious about the bike.

Thanks all

Yes, he's precious hence his wife doing her due diligence!

I think She'll go for a 561 from Halfords, just so they can return it easily if there are any clamp issues / he has other ideas!

I have both the 561 and 591, regardless of the frame clamping issue the 561 is so much more stable.
