So I am after a disc brake pad that lasts ages, hopefully has good modulation, doesn't squeal etc... Power is not really a concern as long as they aren't absolutely terrible (I can't downsize rotor and have very strong brakes, but am wearing through rear pads very quickly as I tend to drag the rear constantly modulating it on a lot of descents). Hope V4 sized if it matters...

Anybody got any particular experience of a brand, or compound of pad that they just couldn't wear out?!?!

Semi-metallic/sintered or ceramic from AliExpress. I've run them on Shimano, Magura MT5 and MT7, Formula Cura with no issues. No fade (although I don't get many really long descents I'm a bad rear brake dragger). There's a lot of gritty sand here and I've had OEM organic pads last 2 weeks of my normal riding, whereas these are cheap as chips and last ages. I buy many pairs at a time and carry a spare pair in my pack.

Rotors obviously wear a bit quicker.

It's not quite what you asked for but I use the Bikein ceramics from aliexpress, they've been great for me. I can't say they last an especally long time, though they do seem to resist the really accelerated wear that some conditions have better than most. But they're £6 for 4 pairs so just getting decent life still works out pretty damn well. Still a hassle to actually replace pads frequently though.

(I've been using them for 6 years I think, in some Formula The Ones- everything from tweed valley winters to the Mega and they've never missed a beat)

That's the key for me. They're so cheap it doesn't matter, and it really is only a five minute job to swap them out.

Uberbike blues (ebike compound) are very durable and perform well. I used them with my hope E4 and tend to drag my brakes a lot.
