We just bought a used Raleigh Firefly MTB from an auction site for £50. Says nearly new condition. Off to pick it up tomorrow. It's just to mosey around on with 9 year old son while teaching him to ride on roads etc. Forgot to ask what the frame size was lol. Has 15 gears ans 26" wheels.
Does anyone know when these were made? Or anything I should look out for? Thanks. Also - any chance I could fit hydraulic brakes on it at some point?
If it's red and black it will be from around 2000/2001. No way you can put discs on it I'm afraid, they were basic bikes with v-brakes, 1" threaded steerers and quill stems. The later ones were black but basically the same. I used to sell them back then and they were fine for the money, about £130 IIRC.
So quite old then! Seems to be all red from the photo with a repair kit attached under the saddle. Did they stop making them in 2001 then?
