The rahox.com site seems to be down, I emailed them based on my last order a week ago and got nothing. Are they dead?
If so I need an alt.
I used to use superstar/uber/disco etc but came to realise they were a false economy.
I now only use OE (shimano) or Rahox, I find the rahox don't last quite as long but they do give excellent performance.
Really I hope that someone tells me rahox are still going, and jsut having a break, but if not, other than OE what shall I get?
I use Galfer pads, get them from here https://www.bikester.co.uk/search.html?id=0&strSearchQuery=galfer
+1 big fan of Rahox but haven't been able to get them for ages, so have transitioned onto Galfer, which are also fine pads. The greens are up there with Rahox and the blacks are decent everyday pads.
Good life? Whats the provenance, I mean how do you know that they know what they are doing?
I've checked their website on and off for the last year, and they've not been shipping to the UK for the whole time. Assuming they're dead.
damski
Bummer.
You could try them on https://m.facebook.com/pg/rahoxbrakes/posts
Or
rahoxshop@gmail.com (Email worked in Feb 21)
I know Brexit and COVID were bollocksing things up for them but hope they’re still functioning. Ace pads!!

in what way?
I bought Uber race for the road bike and they seem dreadful, they glaze up and then squeal so badly it’s like the loudest air horn you’ve ever heard. I nearly made a pedestrian do a wee on Tuesday.
in what way?
Superstar are crap, fast wear, pads fall off backing, poor fit, glazing, noise. I had fast wear with uber after a recommendation here and the disco ones first set that I bought wore out in a day.
At switchbacks in 2016 I did a back to back comparison, by accident. I went through a brand new set of superstars in one day, so had to buy OE shimano from a shop, they lasted me the rest of the week.
When I was a superstar addict I went through pads in no time, these days with OE or rahox, the pads last ages.
If anyone can make use of some Shimano G03s/G04S style Rahox pads I have a set going cheap that I'd rather were used than binned..
Me please.
Are those Galfer green pads worth 22 quid a pair? I might try some.
I'd try Trickstuff but the website is baffling.
yes, green Galfers are good.
Yep, the Galfer Greens are expensive but good - my go to for my Hope E4s.
Right I'm searching for Galfer stuff and I just spotted their 2mm thick e-bike rotors. I might go for a pair of those and green pads.
sharkattack

re=bike sell them also, and much easier to understand
Agree on the Uberbike pads. Got some of their more expensive ones and yes, they stop but no better than anything else and scream like a banshee at the same time.
Now I just trawl eBay for cheapos which work

not according to reviews I've seen.
Anyone used pads from Gorilla Brakes ?
not according to reviews I’ve seen.
Link?
CL Brake pads for me, again I've had enough of cheap shit pads.
I've not used gorilla's sintered, but the multi compound and ceramic have been excellent and quiet and appear to be lasting long. Money back guarantee made me give them a try.
I'm very much in the OE/Trickstuff/Galfer camp.
I couldn't get anything about 6 months ago, so ended up with some Uberbike E-Matrix. It was a reminder as to why I tried them last time round & thought they were crap. They still are.
I have used rahox, they were ok better than the economy brands, but I like the "brake authority" burly or ceramic, no cost saving over oem, but better IMO.
Any one tried the swiss stop disk pads?
I'm on Swissstop Green on the gravel/CX bike, and Swissstop Yellow on the 29er.
Both are... OK. Wouldn't say any better than Shimano yet but haven't given them much time and my riding style doesn't put much stress on brake pads, I only chop and change for the sake of finding what's quietest. Swissstop pads don't really live up to their 'low noise' hype sadly but are no worse than anything else I've tried.
I dont get the issues with Uberbike, especially the Race Matrix compound, yeah they don't last as long as OE shimano - I get about half the life, but they're so cheap it doesn't matter and they perform just as well.
those Gorilla pads look exceptionally cheap - £6 for a set Cura4's ??
Been wondering about Rahox - used them for a while but no joy on their site for ages.
I ended up spending on the Trckstuff ones and they are very good but a bit spendy.
Keeps hoping someone’s posted a message that Rahox has returned and with a UK disti.
I’ve been using Noah and Theo ones with no issues. I’ve no idea if they are different to any generic shipped from china ones but they are nice colours and stop me fine.
Noah and Theo offer ceramic pads don't they? Had heard of someone using them in 105 brakes with good results (low noise).
Was surprised nobody else did ceramic but apparently it's a thing in race cars, but surely Noah and Theo can't be the only ones doing them, they're not even expensive. Are they just rebadged as something else by other manufacturers?
@13thfloormonk they are really cheap, can’t tell if they are just rebadged but I’ve a few pairs and they are fine in Sram Rival and 105 for me (although not finned, like the Shimano originals, but I’m not sure the fins do much other than look cool).
been using N&T ceramic recently. quite happy with the results. No real difference in initial braking power than the resin or semi-metallic versions though. No idea on longevity or how they respond to heat though.
FYI finally got an email from Rahox, they are not sure when/if they will ever reopen.

Am still tempted but have two other sets of pads to experiment with (Uberbike Race Matrix and EBC Red). What is it about the N&T ceramic that you are happy with?
Rahox are probably the best I've used, real shame if they arent going to continue the business, Hopefully someone else takes it on.
I have just bought some Gorilla Ceramic for Hope E4's and they are really good, maybe not quite as good as Galfer green but half the price.
E4s here
Galfer greens are great, but I found they wore through quite quickly, save them for racing!
Literally just fitted SS reds before a ride tomorrow, will see how they compare to the cheap clarks ones I got in halfords - the sintered clarks ones didn't have the bite of the galfer but were actually pretty decent and lasted well in the sandy conditions locally
What is it about the N&T ceramic that you are happy with?
they work and are not expensive lol
