Did anybody ride one of these back in the day? - circa 2012 I think? Did it go on general sale or just a few prototypes floating around?

I’ve got the opportunity to buy one, I know it’s old and on 26 inch wheels but it’s got the DW/twin-link suspension setup at the rear triangle a bit like the old Iron Horse Sunday and the angles were pretty progressive for the time.

It’ll be very much a second bike for the other half or when my nephews come to stay and want to come out with me.

A mini review from anyone?!

Wow. Never got to production - must be a show bike? Is it painted - I can't remember how far we got with them.

Hi Brant, it’s the same orange as a Blue Pig I had a while ago - I collect on Saturday and I’ll post some pics.
Do you remember what size shock went in the back?

I’ll see if I can find the drawings. I think it’ll be a 200x55?

We’re those the bikes that were supposed to have a longer fork on the front than they had rear travel?

And lots of the magazines said it’s never catch on and you needed equal travel front and rear?

Obviously Ragley we’re ahead of their time as merry much every bike brand now has an option that’s they
Or standard bike but had the fork bumped up by 20-30mm (to become their ‘LT’, Evo, ‘lunchtime’, etc version).

Their FS bikes looked great back then and I was gutted I never got a chance to buy one.

Frame drawing here - it's a 190 shock.

I always loved the name, and so the evolution of our HebTroCo J5 jeans were called G6:-

ps: mega deal on J5 jeans tomorrow from lunchtime tomorrow -

What was the green shorter travel one..the 10-4? I really wanted that!

Way ahead of their time and a shame they never went into production...what happened to the full suss project, it just suddenly went hush from memory?

@brant - wow, bit late to the party and would like a set of new and desperately need a set of new jeans.

Could you kindly let me know if any big offers in that straight leg (bigger cut design) tomoz?

Might phone up to confirm sizing.

Thanks 🙂

J5s aren’t super skinny tbh but no discount on the GVNR straight leg tomorrow. There will be on the loose taper V12 tho.

That was done with Ryan who does the Saracen FS stuff now.

Really fancied a 10-4 myself, thinking the g6 would be too much bike! Had a Piglet whilst waiting for the FS bikes to arrive, them moved onto a Stanton slackline.

Do check eBay every now and again to see if one of those prototypes will pop up.

Think it's a legal requirement that you now post up pics of the g6 once you've got it sorted 😜

Will definitely post pics, I collect Saturday and it hasn’t got any brakes on it but I’ve got an old set of Deore in the shed, change the bars/stem over to my preferred Renthals and hopefully it’ll be good to go on Sunday.

Said it before, but Ragley need to do a mullet full sus. Around 150mm travel, single pivot for ease of maintenance, bottle inside the front triangle, etc. Well in keeping with the brand. Keep it good value and I’m sure they’d fly out the door.

No brakes as yet but Deores going on tomorrow - previous owner included a 42t cassette but couldn’t get it working with the rear mech (XT), I seem to remember my LBS saying you have to go with a cheaper Deore mech to make the wide range 10-speed cassettes work.
Fork is a Fox-32 @ 150mm, not ideal - will try and source a 140mm Pike for the front (might go mullet with 27.5 up front but haven’t decided yet)…tyres are on order, hate the Larsen TT as a rear.

Good points: no play in the frame, bearings all good - no creaking, Reverb actually works, rear shock is mint considering it looks like the original (was going to change that first but it can stay for now) - angles would’ve beeen mental slack in 2012, measured the HA last night at 65 degrees which is about right for todays riding - I’ll get working on it this week and post up some finished photos when it’s done 👍🏻

Some updated pics now it’s finished, I didn’t know sourcing decent tires for 26 inches was so hard (or expensive) now!

Full specs for the geeks:

Ragley G6 prototype 150/130 travel.

Rockshox Sektor 150 on a medium coil spring…so much nicer than air suspension.

Rockshox Monarch rear shock.

SLX brakes and shifters.

XT cranks.

Renthal bars and chain ring.

Shimano 10 speed setup with a 42t lowest sprocket.

Schwalbe Mary up front.

Schwalbe Nic on the back.

Brand-X 30mm internal width rims.

Reverb dropper.

Nukeproof headset and spacers.

It rides great, this recent weather means it’s had plenty of use, took it to BPW and so many people stopped to ask about it - general consensus from the conversations I’ve had is that an affordable Ragley full suspension would fly out of the warehouse.

(pics to follow when I can remember how to post them on here!)
