It's my first hardcore hardtail and my first 29er, also my first mtb after a 2 year pause due to various reasons. I wanted to get my thoughts down somewhere because I'm smitten with trail riding again after pure darkside (road) for the past two years.

It's a great ride. Handlebars didn't fit me and I need a dropper but the tires, fork, wheels and frame are really, really nice. Gears and brakes are perfectly fine, too. It's incredible how fast it rolls, it's a real tank on the downhill. Bit of a pig to climb, especially with the heavy tires but it's alright. It was trivial to puff it upp tubeless, too.

Overall I can't imagine getting a better bike for the price. I don't feel any need for a full suspension bike after a few rides on my Ragley

glad you enjoy it. Hardcore hardtails are brilliant. Well done for sticking to good old alloy.

Awesome, out of curiosity what was wrong with the bars?

Very stiff and just poked wrong into my palm. I had a good Easton havoc carbon bar that is immediately better.

Interestingly enough I had 2 carbon fullys in a row before getting a canyon spectral al and now the Ragley. The spectral and the ragley are simply better bikes. I don't see any reason for a carbon bike in my life to be honest.
