I decided to bite the bullet and get some specific MTB glasses with prescription lenses in them. After seeing all of the good reviews on here and other places about RAD8 I dropped them an email to see if they can do them with prescription lenses. As it happened they had just launched their Photochromic lenses with prescriptions that week.

I placed my order on the Monday and I picked my glasses up from my local royal mail office the following Saturday morning. I had an opportunity to give them a test ride on Sunday before the rain started.

First of all the prescription lenses were brilliant, with no distortion on any part of the vision. The lenses were made by Optilabs who have had good reviews from some fellow STW members.

The morning had quite a bit of sunshine with cloudy periods and also going in and out of the forest. To be honest I was a bit sceptical about the photochromic lenses and how quickly they would change colour but they worked so well that I didn't even notice them changing, they were just always at the right tint for the conditions.

The anti-fog coating also held up really well considering the conditions on the day and the only time I noticed any kind of fogging was when we were stopped at the top of a climb, but it vanished as soon as we started up again.

Really happy with them and I would highly recommend them to anyone in the market for some new glasses. Also fantastic customer service from start to finish.

(I have no connection to the company, just wanted to share a good experience)

Do you mind if I ask your prescription? Looking at something like this but always seem to be right on the boundaries at ~-5. Been meaning to get talking to optilabs but haven't got round to it.

My prescription is -0.25 and -2.5 per eye, not sure if they will be able to do up to -5 but they are really quick to get back on the emails.

Nice but not cheap.

I got 2 pairs of Oakley glasses for a good chunk less than that in January.

Psycorp, prescription? I've got given some Oakley Radar and am looking at £250 for photochromic prescription lenses, these are less than that and come with a frame (and I reckon my local optician would be able to reglaze these unlike the Oakley's). Admittedly I'm not overly fussed by the 504 design

So singletrack discount doesn't work on prescription glasses. But gutted but understandable, looks like another pair of insert glasses for me. Difficult to justify £190 for something I will frankly destroy

Oho oh oh ohohohooh.

Literally a few weeks ago I asked and they said "coming soon".

Bit miffed at £100 premium for the lens, especially as I'm not yet convinced that transitions are entirely a good idea as you don't want to wait ten seconds when entering shade from sun for the lenses to adapt...
