Been trying to fit a OneUp RAD cage to my 10sp Shadow+ SLX mech but can't get the outer cage off the mech body. The OneUp Youtube vid shows the bolt that holds the outer cage on as unscrewing with an allen key but mine only has an allen fitting on the clutch side - the cage bolt is fixed and just has threads for the cage inner bolt to screw into.
Any thoughts? Maybe I have an older mech or something...
Not entirely sure what you mean, but I think you need two allen keys, one on each side and then unscrew using the second to hold the 'nut' as it were.
An Allen key on each side is the way to go. It can be quite stiff, so persevere!
Yeah,
The the second Allen key just holds in the thread doesn't locate.
Be careful the threads can strip on the Allen key.
Ah - I hadn't realised it was such an agricultural approach - I'll try stuffing the second allen key into the threaded side then.
Thanks for the comments.
Right, I'll have to drill the ****er out...
