Hello - good to join here. I've just bought a Merlin AXE7 alloy bike with standard upper rack mounts but with lower points which are 4" above the standard lower frame eyes... i.e. a little up the rear stays above the disc mount, and thus 2" closer to the rider too.
I've been looking at the AXIOM Streamliner DLX Disc which seems to be the only sensible option, using the existing QR skewer (with very thin bracketry). Does anyone know of anything that might allow me to use the rather odd lower frame points?
Excellent bike btw, on huge discount for the road version which only needs a tyre swap - but this is probably why!
I suppose swapping around and flipping the lower mounting plates on the Streamliner would also be an option? They should line up with the mounting points pretty well.
thankyou - that's a good thing to try.
Wonder which would be stronger... I'm guess perhaps stick with the QR as its the lowest point...?
A couple of my mates have the non disc version of the axiom streamliner. Very pleased with them. Very secure. Also extra heel clearance is an added bonus.
gonna buy... and see what happens! thanks all
