Hello everybody

I think I’m about to order a Marin Pine Mountain 1.

I’ve wanted one since they launched and my desire’s only got stronger!

Thing is I want to stick a rack on it for a bit of an ‘adventure bike’ aesthetic but don’t know what I’m looking for?

Any recommendations/things to consider?

Rgds

Will

Not sure about the rack but will follow this thread with interest. I would think that most 29er / disk brake racks would fit.

I love my PM1. Try for size before you buy - they come up big and long. I've put a pair of Jones H bars on, and a Cambium 17 saddle on my old USE SX bouncy seat post; it's such a comfy ride. A bit heavy, a bit noisy on tarmac, but it puts a massive smile on my face every time. Makes me feel like a kid again!

Brilliant, thanks for the feedback.

What's the biggest tyres you think it'll take?

What sort of riding have you used it for? I'm thinking nice technical singletrack?

It comes with 2.8" Kenda Havocs - not the Schwalbes that are listed. It would take a 3" I think, depending on how aggressive the nobbles are.

I've used it on single track at forestry trail centres (totally confidence inspiring), XC across fields and bridleways etc (again, I love it, excellent traction and comfort) and used it for towing around my son's trailer-bike off-road (really stable and controlled). It's not too sluggish either, although you notice the weight a little on the hill-climbs (But I'm neither the fittest nor lightest cyclist in the world).

It struggled with this, a bit:

He's called 'Bikey McBikeface', as a kind of homage! 😀

The bars are excellent; not cheap, but worth it - i broke my wrist last year and really struggle with straights. Charlie the Bikemonger is your man for those.

Regarding the rack situation, this thread might be of interest to you, and there are plenty more if you search the forum.
