You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
1) An MTB stage race abroad somewhere - probably mainland europe. Recommendations very welcome.
2) Have less mechanicals. Stupid things like spokes coming lose destroyed a couple races last year.
3) Do a "gravel grinder". I don't really know what they are, and the best way to find out is probably to enter one. Again, recommendations welcome!
I have officially retired.
I far exceeded all my expectations for racing last year so
Im quitting whilst Im ahead instead of the pressure of bettering my previous results. Also
I miss riding for sh1ts and giggles and eating cheese sandwiches.
Sub 20 10.

I know that feeling. That's why I thought doing a gravel grinder might be fun. No expectations and no pressure, as far as I can tell.
To do one.
1. Return to IronBike before I am too old - this was also 2014's unfulfilled goal. (I can certainly recommend it as a very tough, crazy Italian stage race!)
2. Get a coach to help me make sure I peak in July, rather than in February as I accidentally did last year.
3. Everything else doesn't really matter, just enjoy the rest of my races and try not to get injured.
Having done nothing last year other than a few club TT due to baby no 2 arriving in Feb, now want to do everything in 2015! Southern XC series, some longer XC events, more Open TT, more road racing, some cross later in the year. Need to make a decision pretty quickly 😕
My main challenge is to manage to get an entry to one or both of the Ireland and Scotland EWS rounds. In terms of results, any race I walk away from is a good one 😆
Mainly I just want less injuries to be honest- I only had one race last year that I wasn't carrying an injury and I was never really on form fitness wise all year, which was a downer. I don't mind being an also-ran but I do want to put my best foot forward without limping...
To get a podium spot again.
Managed a 3rd spot at the PMBA Enduro at Lee Quarry late last year, so I would like to better that if I can, or at least equal it.
Also, as sbove really, no mechanicals / offs.
I'd like to have more fun with my mates and I've got quite a few weekends booked racing Enduro so 2015 should be a good year.
1) Road: 2nd cat licence and a top 10 finish at the Nationals in my age class
2) Track: Stay upright at the Masters Nationals
3) TT: Ride a 100 to a competitive time
4) MTB: Mince around to a top third position, maybe even top 10, on my singlespeed
5) Cross: As above
enjoy the rest of my races and try not to get injured.
And this!
I'd like to win the Expert cat in the Midlands Series again and [s]race[/s] ride my bike really fast at SSUK15.
Top 3 in the UKGE Series overall, so that I can move up to Elite.
Not get lapped by Schmiken at SSUK15!
Not be shit.
I will likely fail this!
-Get a car so I can actually get to some races
-To beat everone at SSUK2015 ( the STW forum user although beating everyone/winning would be nice!)
-Get to at least 3 round of the midland XC series and as many of the FNS as possible
-race a 6 hour plus race
If I'm in the area at the time do the Eiger bike race, although my new job starts the day after it, 800 miles away from it so I severely doubt that will happen!
I'd like to come in the top 10 in the MM24 Solo cat this year. 30th in 2014. Will be quite an achievement for me if I make it! Also I'll look to raise lots of wonga for either the Dementia Trust or Alzheimers Society.
Maybe have a bash at an Enduro race to see what the fuss is about!
Not be shit.I will likely fail this!
Sounds like an objective goal!
Sounds like an objective goal!
Yes, I ought to mark it SMART really.
I make an effort to make an annual trip to a podium, managed it every year I've raced I think (which is now 15), although for too many of those years it's been in team events thanks to faster friends. Still... I'll aim for a podium finish, somewhere, sometime.
1. Do a race without getting injured
2. Do a night race
3. Do a UKGE event
Would love to add EWS Tweedlove to that but I think that will have to wait until next year.
Did have lots planned for this year, namely :
Ard Rock enduro
Doing all the pmba Gravity enduro rounds again. Finished 5th overall in vets last year even though I made some mistakes ( crashed/got held up badly at some rounds) which cost me dearly.
On the road I want to better my Fred Whitton time (did it in 6hr 45min last year, aiming for less than 6:30 in May) I know it's not a race per se but there's no harm in bettering yourself I recon.
Also fancy having a dabble at some TT's as well.
Only problem is due to me having a seizure in November means I can't drive for twelve months so it's kinda put a kibosh on things 😐 My OH has said she'd drive me to some of the events as well as a couple of kind hearted fellow stw forum members so it's not all bad, at least I'll get to do some of them. 🙂
Just me that thought this said racing goats for 2015
Tempted to try an Enduro at some point.
Due to an Admin error on the night, I managed to get onto the podium at the XCRampage series this year 😀 Appologies to the bloke who genuinely deserved it although I found out he did eventually get his trophy 😀
So this year- I'd quite like to podium something for real. Not fussed what to be honest.
In my proper plan, I'm targeting a top ten Spring Gorrick finish and top five by Autumn.
Might have to start a different thread on a similar theme.....
No goals, going to dip my toe in though, road and mtb
Dalby Nutcracker and BC Rd1 at Sherwood being the first dips I think
Try and get to as many road races as possible. Once I'm at the race, finish near the front = get more than 13 points that I got in 2014.
Try and race on the mountain bike. I'll be going back to the national mtb marathon after a few years off.
Retain at least one of my club trophies (got a clean sweep this year - TT, Race and Hill climb).
Hit the hill climb season at a sensible weight (<75kg) and try and get more prizes/podiums (I'm not going to win one).
Race more CX as it is awesome.
Pwn Strava.
Just me that thought this said racing goats for 2015
I've heard 650b goats are going to make the racing come alive this year...
sooooo, which category do i need to be registering in for BC Rd1? (I'm 34)
Masters or sport (masters being quicker and longer. And on sunday).
Masters has gone now
Sport had always been on Sunday too, moved last year, not sure that'll stick with masters going.
So yes, it's now open, sport or expert. Dunno how they're doing licences for expert though.
Get another podium at an endurance event and at least one national rank point in cross. Managed both last year, so same again would be great.
Win Mayhem-Mine as part of Gee's team this year we missed out by about 20 seconds.Bitterly annoying that.
1st cat on the road
win an Xc race -Expert will be harder now but I've got a lot faster.
Battle on the Beach
Finish my cross season on a high- I'm off to belgium on thursday to race the remaining UCI races of the year (try and spot me on TV)
1st goal achieved, a brutal 40km XC race, beat last years time and was up on nearly every segment on Strava so happy with that.
Not get pneumonia in April (or any time of the year) again.
Top 50 at the Dyfi, assuming it get a place later today.
Top 20 solo at MM, managed 40th in '14 at my first crack at solo.
Do the full MMWM XC series and be vaguely competitive (holidays permitting).
Get a CX bike and race NWCX this coming winter
Race full summer and winter CX races in western league
Bike and octoberfest
Hopefully enter some sothern xc races
I'd like to do my first road event if possible
So yes, it's now open, sport or expert. Dunno how they're doing licences for expert though.
list of Races seems to suggest, Fun, Open and Sport + Women all have the same start times, on the Saturday

Finishing my first goal of the year 🙂 Next time I'll try and smile
To enter one, finish and not be last. Top 50% would be nice.
To race 60 minutes not 40 in CX, and be competitive.
Races seems to suggest, Fun, Open and Sport + Women all have the same start times, on the Saturday
Most Women are Sunday morning...? But yes, fun, open, sport on Saturday. That'll be unpopular.
1. Do some road racing for the first time & get to Cat 3
2. Do my first TT (I've been threatening for years!)
3. Top 10's in next season's 'cross now I think I know where I got my training wrong this season (only managed two top 10's all season)
4. Midland XC if it fits in, but not sure on cat yet-won sport last year so masters if it runs & has a big enough entry.
5. Compete in some sort of enduro race, most likely a mini enduro now I've finally got a suitable bike
Sub 20 10
Ulverston Sprint Tri - top 1/3rd
Grizedale PMBA enduro - not die
Do a TT (local 10 will do, but might sneak a 25 in) - not embarras myself
Do an xc event of some ilk.
Kendal Sprint Tri - top 1/3rd
Do a fell race of some kind
Maybe try open water swimming (as part of a tri)
Humble goals but then I am shit.
3 enduros entered so far. Goal for this year is to finish in the top 50% or better in masters.
Caersws enduro beat 0%
Eastridge enduro beat 9% masters
Penmachno enduro beat 38%
Vastly underestimated how hard that would be last year in my first season of racing!
Sub 20 10
Impressive, best of luck with that! 8)
joined BC, got a Licence, the 10% discount for CRC more or less made it free,
on the back of the card, it says (XC - Sport)
I've entered Expert, for Rd1, will i have any issues with this?
Yes, sadly so. You'll have to speak to them to get an expert licence.
Didn't know about the CRC discount, missed out on that 😳
Edit: assume you mean the Nationals (ie Sherwood?) as per above, regional/local series probably won't care.
Didn't know about the CRC discount, missed out on that
one time 10% voucher, but 10% off di2 xtr mech and some other bits i need = free membership + licence,
but also some chat about a constant 10% off CRC voucher
Yes, sadly so. You'll have to speak to them to get an expert licence.
ah, not going to happen is it, no prior results, ill give them a bell next week to sort it,
didn't particularly want to race fun/open/sport especially if the start times are the same,
Mmm, seems random, you may get lucky, but I'd not hold my breath!

1) An MTB stage race abroad somewhere - probably mainland europe. Recommendations very welcome.
There are 2 stage races in Poland: The Beskidy mTB Trophy in June and the Sudety MTB challenge late July. Read good reviews for the Sudety
http://www.mtbchallenge.com/
My racing goals:
Finish HTR550
Finish within first third overall Sellaronda Hero
Finish MB race ultra distance
Get to third cat, one point needed after losing out at my last crit following the commissaries reshuffle.
Joined the LVRC too so aiming to find my feet in there, few bunch finishes will be nice.
Also a bit more involvement with helping out, marshalling etc.
Current schedule is
1: Deva Triathlon
2: European Standard Distance Triathlon Championships
3: British Standard Distance Triathlon Championships
4: World Standard Distance Triathlon Championships
5: World Cross Triathlon Championships (maybe, dates all wrong)
For the first time in a few years I have no other races on the agenda, no MTB races, no road races no TT's. Just those 4/5 so the goal is for some of them to go well...
Iain
A 3:05 Marathon.
A ultra Marathon of at least 40 mile
An obstacle Marathon
And maybe qualify for the obstacle championship.
Not doing many this year as they seemed to dominate my life last year. But what i am doing are biggies.
1. May - EWS Tweedlove. 600 maniacs racing round the borders. F@@k yea 🙂
2. June - Trans Provence. Although ill be racing i am sure my results will be less than spectacular so i will take my usual out look which is to do my best but to make sure i enjoy it, drink a few beers and meet some cracking people.
Seems to work for me up till now 🙂
World Track Masters in October.
Sudety MTB is excellent. You can read my feature from last year here... http://ukxcnews.com/?s=Sudety&submit=Search
Racing on the road for me.
1) Do some of the few crits we have in Scotland, mostly for the experience of it and learning how to cope in mad bunches.
2) Do a few local TTs, mostly for the training but also for the 'fun'
2) Get some meaningful racing in on some Cat3/4 races - even a bunch finish or a doomed breakaway would be cool.
3) Learn how to count
Id love to race a crit but dont think its likely being a solo rider with no bunch riding opportunities.
Ride the top distance in at least one mtb marathon, probably church Stretton
MY aim is just to get chance to do one.
Very busy home life, then being away at sea for more than half the time, and no races happening conveniently close to home make it very difficult.
I am signed up to 'ArdRock Enduro, but my leave plans have been scuppered, and may not be home for it.
Every other race seems to happen when I'm on the boat. 😡
I have just entered the Epic Cymru, so a respectable finish in that would be great.
Probably do 2 or 3 other Enduros throughout the year too, a Red Kite event or two and whatever else comes up.
But the main goal is to be injury free. Not managed that for several years so the odd races I have gone to have all been first rides back after 3 months off.
I've entered the Castlewellan enduro in the masters / hardtail categories.
It's my first race so finishing is my only goal. If I enjoy it, I might enter the other rounds.
2015 Cyclo cross has just finished,
Got Black Park Southern series XC in a few weeks.
Baines Racing Road race the week after.
Road race in Boltoph Claydon?
Crit series from beginning of May to end of season, every Tuesday.
Friday Night Summer Series XC
Random XC races, open road races might even do some TT's (which I detest)
Then cross starts all over again late September.
Update on this, spoke to them regarding
Yes, sadly so. You'll have to speak to them to get an expert licence.
Now have an expert licence
Sorry. Wrong thread. I misread the title as Racing Goats for 2015.
Now have an expert licence
Good effort, see you there. I'm stupidly unfit, but someone's got to make up the numbers!
Season starts next weekend for me. Preparation: None. Fitness: Low. Motivation: Zero. Perfect. I'll buy some ti bolts, that'll fix it
Gained an Expert licence through the demise of Masters. Makes no odds as I've no plans to race this summer, just a regroup before proper racing (CX) starts again in September.
Mostly it's - do myself justice at BC Bike Race. So there are a few events coming up and quite a lot of riding. All aimed at being in a reasonable state for BC.
I've got the first Southern XC on Sunday, but I've had a stinking cold all week, coupled with the already poor fitness. Not coming last will definitely be a victory, and I will count DNFs in that.
We should have a follow up in December to this.
I've got quite a few but a podium at Mayhem (solo) is my main one.
First proper race this weekend - Cannock Run and Ride Winter Classic. Doing the singlespeed cat, bit annoyed it's only three laps though!
I far exceeded all my expectations for racing last year
To do this, and then again next year.
20 minute 10
Top 10 Welsh CX champs
Top 20 Welsh CX league.
Best dig in.
20 minute 10 on a cross frame? Fair play. What's your current PB?

Check before you travel, FC threatening to cancel it due to forecast high winds, I can only see peak of 23mph myself though
Oh & 3 laps is enough on a SS believe me, the nature of the course robs all your momentum for the climbs, its very narrow and it'll be very muddy too, the drop & bombhole will be interesting!
Yeah, got the email earlier. Fingers crossed for good(ish) weather. I'm looking forward to it, but only 3 miles per lap? Seems quite short.
I'll be on a fat bike,3x3.45 miles will be enough!
You fast chaps should see it as a mud-criterium
Forgot I was racing this Sunday and don't have the car.
Bedford to Black Park....race .....and back, probably too much?
Edit, yep 100 miles plus race 😯
Train?
Ah, 3.45 miles sounds better, I'd read it was only 2.8 somewhere!
