Me and a friend have just salvaged a gt bmx bike that was neglected from a front garden locally, we did ask the owner if it was being thrown out and we could take it!

Who here has a racey bmx? what parts would you recommend?

This is what we are going to go for: Full shot blast and respray on parts we have already.

Get over to bmxtalk.com
You'll find lots of parts on the forum and loads of help. Have you measured the top tube? Maybe to small to race? My pro xl has a 21.5 top tube and I'm 6ft. Just right for me and I run a 175mm crank arms.
eBay will be a good bet for retro stuff or Retrobike has a bmx section.

You're never to old for BMX. I'm 32 next month 😛

Current set up (for a 5'10" rider with long arms)
Brew Pro XL frame
Odyssey 41thermal race forks
S&M Beringer LT bars
Profile 180mm cranks
Sun BFR 36 hole wheels
Primo mag pedals
Selle roadie saddle
Deore V brake
Classic gearing is 44-16, so an equivalent of that is needed (i've got a 25 on the front)

Could probably knock a couple of pounds out of it with lighter wheels, carbon forks and alu frame.
